My pet project this week is catching up on all my personal shoots. I took these of my niece, Kendal, back in the summer, so it's about time they make an appearance here. She was in NO mood for pictures that evening, but we managed to coerce her into a few cute shots. Loved the little set we created for this. My mother-in-law has a better prop collection than I do, she just doesn't know that they're props! ;)
Eli...
This is a VERY belated post for my own little nephew, Eli. You can probably tell by the fact that it includes his maternity, newborn, AND 4 month portraits. Thanks to my beautiful cousin Shauna for being so patient with me. ;)
And now at 4 months old...I'm always amazed how much they change in a few short months!
Levi, day 17
I've known this cutie's aunt since elementary school, so I could not have been more excited when she contacted me about doing photos for her sister's new baby. Originally we planned on doing the session while I was visiting for Thanksgiving, but he had other plans!
After going 11 days overdue, he finally graced us with his presence, and then unfortunately had to spend the next couple weeks in and out of hospital with health issues.
(Apparenlty he warranted a few strange looks in the NICU, with his 10+ lbs next to the, more typical, 3 and 4 lb residents.)
Much to everyone's relief, he is now home and perfectly healthy. Once we got the all clear, I didn't waste much time getting my hands on him. We really wanted those sleepy newborn shots, and at over 2 weeks old, every day counts!
He started off our session WIDE awake, but after a few family shots and some rocking, he drifted off to sleep, and was oh so good to us.
Here are a few of my faves from his shoot. I had a seriously hard time narrowing these down!
Beautiful Momma! You can already tell he takes after her.
I just noticed during editing, that it's big brother's name tattooed on Dad's arm. Love it!

Big brother Carter was SO good during our shoot. He didn't even mind when Levi peed on him! Now from a 4 year old, THAT is love!

Gavin, 7 days new
This itty bitty fellow surprised us all by arriving a few weeks early. He didn't even give his poor Momma enough time to make it to the hospital!
Now he is giving his parents a run for their money by partying all night, and sleeping all day. Which actually works perfectly for me - Sorry guys! He didn't even think about waking up during his session. Though he did manage to do quite a bit of protesting in his sleep lol.
He really is the sweetest, most beautiful little baby though. And Mom and Dad have that happy, new parent glow, that reminds you it is ALL worth it.

I am absolutely in LOVE with these detail shots! So excited to be able to offer them to all my newborn clients going forward. All newborn sessions with Rebecca Balfour Photography also include one of these e-birth announcement designs. (details have been changed)
Sarah + Connor, 36 weeks
Meet Sarah, and Connor. These beautiful babes arrived a little earlier than expected, at 31 weeks. After a month in the NICU, Mom and Dad were finally able to bring them home, and I didn't waste any time getting my hands on them either. ;)
This was my first time ever working with twins, and I could NOT have asked for a better experience. They slept so perfectly for us, I was in heaven!
I love when my clients have props of their own to incorporate into their shoot. We're not always able to make them work, but this crate was just perfect. Dad took photos of big sister Alana in it when she was a baby, so we thought it would be fun to recreate!

Spencer, day 19
Sweet Spencer from my most recent newborn session. At almost 3 weeks old, we didn't get quite as much sleepy time as I could hope for, but he sure was adorable when he did. Thanks so much to Mom and Dad for inviting me into your beautiful new home. Enjoy!
